| Catatan | ABSTRAK :Salmonella enteritidis is considered as the disease attacking both animal and human. This objective of the study was to investigate effect of Coleus atropurpureus L. Benth ethanol extract on S. enteritidis infection at mice. A number of fifty heads of mice were divide into 5 groups, which were group of negative control (1) without treatment of S. enteritidis and Coleus atropurpureus; positive control group (II) was infected intraperitoneally with 0,25 x 107 colony forming unit of S. enteritidis. Groups of III, IV, and V were mice groups that were infected with S. enteritidis and were given Coleus atropurpureus ethanol extract with an oral doses of 26,1 mg; 52,2 mg; and 104,4 mg per gram of weight of mice respectively during 14 days. Five mice of each groups were necropsied and spleen samples were collected at period of first week and second week. It is concluded that dose of 104,4 mg of Coleus atropurpureus more effective as bacteriostatic and therapy for S. enteritidis at mice than doses of 26,1 mg/g BW and 52,2 mg/g BW. / Salmonella enteritis merupakan penyakit yang dapat menyerang baik hewan maupun manusia. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun iler (Coleus atropurpureus L. Benth) sebagai antibakteri terhadap infeksi Salmonella enteritidis pada mencit. Sebanyak 50 ekor mencit yang dibagi menjadi lima kelompok masing-masing 10 ekor yaitu kelompok I sebagai kontrol, kelompok II diinfeksi S. enteritidis dengan dosis 0,25 mL x 10 pangkat 7 CFU/mL secara intraperitoneal, kelompok III, IV dan V berturut-turut adalah kelompok yang diinfeksi dan diberi ekstrak etanol daun iler dengan dosis 26,1 mg/gBB, 52,2 mg/gBB, 104,4 mg/gBB per oral selama 14 hari. Pengambilan sampel organ limpa dilakukan pada dua periode yaitu minggu ke-1 dan ke-2, setiap periode dibunuh 5 ekor mencit dari setiap kelompok.Analisis dilanjutkan dengan reisolasi dan reidentifikasi bakteri S. enteritidis serta perhitungan jumlah bekteri dengan metode Angka Lempeng Total (ALT).Analisis data hasil ALT dilakukan secara deskriptif dengan melihat perbedaan jumlah bakteri antar kelompok. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun iler dosis 104,4 mg/gBB lebih efektif untuk menghambat pertumbuhan dan mengobati infeksi S. enteritidis pada mencit bila dibandingkan dengan dosis 26,1 mg/gBB dan dosis 52,2 mg/gBB. |
