The Project run from 1 May 1987 to 30 April 1990, and was extended for one more year to 30 April 1991.

The Project had been carried out cooperatively by Malang Research Institute for Food Crops (MARIF), Maros Research Institute for Food Crops (MORIF), both under the Central Research Institute for Food Crops (CRIFC), by the Faculty of Agriculture of Brawijaya University in Malang, and the Faculty of Agriculture of the Cendrawasih University in Manokwari. The research in the Project was part of the National Root Crops Research Program.

More detail reports had been presented in the Annual Progress Report of the Project, and the present Final Report compiled and discussed the findings of the four-year study.
