Dharmayanti, NLP Indi text 2006 Dharmayanti, NLP Indi Media Kedokteran Hewan .-- Vol. 22(2) p.79-83.-- ABSTRAK : Avian influenza virus (AI) can infected a variety of species, including birds and human. Since August 2004, there were some cases of AI affected some birds such as peacock and pigeon in Jakarta. In September 2005, we conducted field investigation to monitor virus circulation of AI in Jakarta including in Taman Margasatwa Ragunan. We collected the cloaca samples from some birds by Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) method. Result of the study showed that avian influenza H5N1 subtype has infected some birds in Taman Margasatwa Ragunan. Some treatments have been done to eradicate the virus such as isolation and antiviral treatment for infected birds and disinfectant treatment for environment.
