Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a zoonotic disease with central nervous system (CNS) symptoms in human and certain animal, which may cause death, physically and mentally disorders. Insects especially mosquitos, play an important role to transmit the disease from animal to animal or animal to human. Pig has been known to be the potensial reservoir of JE virus replication to transmit the disease from animal to human. Other animals can be infected by the detection of JE antibodies. The clinical signs in pigs and other animals are not specific. Hence, to diagnose JE infection needs the laboratory examinations. There are three potential factors namely human, insects as JE vector and infected animals especially pig in Indonesia, makes JE need a serius attention to prevent the increased of JE cases.
