text 1982 PENYAKIT HEWAN Vol.14(23) p.5-8 The effect of PGF 2 alpha oestrus stimulating hormone was studies using infertile dairy cows usually serviced by Artificial Insemination. The infertility of these animals was manifest in the need for repeated unsuccessful by Artifical Insemination. On rectal exploration the cows ovaries demonstrated corpus luteum persistence. Twenty dairy cows were given one injection (20 mg) of PGF 2 alpha (Enzaprost) per cow intramuscularly in order to study the effect of PGF 2 alpha on the cows heat. Vulva condition, vaginal mucus, sexual behaviour and uterine erection were taken as indicators of heat intensity. These factors were measured and recorded 2 - 4 days after the infection was given. The results show that all of the cows under the study came to heat on the third day after receiving the injection. The average value of the heat intensity was 2 for vulva condition, 3 for vaginal mucus, negative for sexual behaviour and 1 for uteine erection.
